Røros in Winter

Our second Christmas in Norway: what to do? For all of us the perfect Christmas is a white one, but with no real guarantee of Yuletide snow in Trondheim, we decided to look for it elsewhere. We had heard a little bit about Røros during our first summer here, but hadn't gotten around to a visit. It's about xx kilometers east of Trondheim, near the Swedish border, where the climate is drier but also colder, so the snow comes early and settles in for the long winter.

We tried to find a cabin in or near the village, but none were available, so we rented a cabin 16 km out. It was called Klemmetvoll, on a farm owned by a family with the same name, and by the shore of a big lake called Aursunden. Like about very other hut we have stayed at in Norway, it was very 'koselig' (a special kind of cosy) with a fireplace and a wood stove, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a loft that Molly and Zoe preferred.

Here's the view from the porch at 10 AM. Our first priority was to visit the village...
