Three years ago when we first went to Bårdsgarden, one of our favorite self-service huts in Trollheimen, Rick set his sights on Okla, the 1564 m peak more or less right behind the hut. In spite of all our vistis to Bårdsgarden, it took nearly three years to get around to it, on a fine weekend in early October. Okla is not really all that big but looks over Gjevilvatnet into the heart of Trollheim, which is slowly becoming terra cognita for us. In the picture above, Okla is the shadow-peak on the lake, with one of the big cirques on Gjevilvasskammen across the way. Blåhøa, the highest peak in Trollheimen (Molly and Rick skied it on Rick's 50th birthday) is on the right, Trollhetta in the middle distance. All in tasteful autumn colors.
Molly has ballet until 7 PM on Friday evenings, so we packed up, picked her up downtown and made it to Bårdsgarden by 10 PM on Friday night. This put us in position for a leisurely start out the front door of the hut on a perfect Saturday. Those are the peaks on the south side of Innerdalen over the girls' heads.
Zoe was Rick's hiking buddy on this one. The two of them spurted ahead, made the summit of Okla, and continued on to the viewpoint over the lake, called Snydda, well ahead of the laggards. Here Zoe stands between the twin summits of Neådalssnota and Snota, both fine telemark tours.
A closer look at Hyttdalen. Our 2004 Easter tour took us over the lakes, up the valley on the right, and on down to Trollheimshytta -- but Rick did a side trip to Neådalsnota on the left.
And here's Zoe and Rick on Snydda. What a day!
