Trollhetta

Strazilcheks at Jøldalshytta

A 4 km jeep road connects Jøldalshytta to the nearest parking, so to make for a fun and efficient weekend trip we rode our bikes into the hut on a Friday evening in August, while the days are still long. This picture was taken on Sunday, as we were about to ride back out.

We stayed Friday night at Jøldalshytta and proceeded on foot. The real goal of the weekend was Trollhetta (1616 m), one of the classic peaks of Trollheimen. We had been to the lower, winter summit on skis but not to the main summit. The weather was not cooperative, so Molly, Rick, and Sebastian made the long slog over the ridge in a white-out, while Nancy and Zoe took the valley way to Trollheimshytta, where we stayed the night. Here's Molly on Trollhetta's lower summit.

But the next day was a corker, so Rick power-hiked over Geithøtta, across Svartådalen from Trollhetta, to get a look at the mountain from a new perspective. Nancy and the girls went back up the valley -- below, lower Svartådalen on the left and upper Svartådalen on the right.

And here's Trollhetta -- Molly and Rick traversed all three bumps the day before.
