The Trollheimen Triangle
Part III: Neådalsnota
At Trollheimshytta we met Martin and Geir, both from Oslo but invading Trondhjems Turistforening's turf to bag a few peaks. Molly and Rick had seen them on Snota, and they had done Blåhøa the day before. Neådalsnota was next on the list, and Rick tagged along while Nancy and the girls took a mellow tour down in the valley. There is a 'tourist route' up the mountain, but we decided to take the high ground and follow a long curved ridge, with a few ups and downs along the way. In the picture above, the ridge exits on the left then curves back across the center of the picture. For the last bit we left the ridge and climbed the snowfields to the summit.
Martin, Salen (the mountain), Geir--and vast quantities of ripe, delicious corn.
That's Geir in front. We had to walk some rocky stretches, and in this case kick steps up a section that was too steep to climb on skins.
We made the top at about 4:30 PM. Here's Rick in his idea of heaven at 1621 meters (5317 ft.). That's Snota in the background.
From the summit we had a fantastic run down the upper snowfields, then just kept right on going into the bowl on the left of the picture above. Deep creamed corn all the way!
That's Geir in the picture, but guess which tracks are Rick's?
Okay, so we were a little late for dinner this time...
